Preventive Medicine & Wellness Care

Preventive healthcare is a cornerstone of Internal Medicine. Regular visits allow your physician to identify risk factors, recommend appropriate screenings, update vaccinations, and address health concerns before they become more serious.

Annual Wellness Visits

Annual wellness visits provide an opportunity to review your health history, medications, risk factors, vaccinations, recommended screenings, cognitive health, and preventive care needs.

For eligible Medicare patients, the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit focuses on developing or updating an individualized preventive health plan. It is different from a traditional comprehensive physical examination.

Comprehensive Physical Examinations

A comprehensive physical examination provides an opportunity for a detailed review of your current health, medical history, medications, symptoms, and risk factors.

Your physician can use this information to recommend appropriate laboratory testing, preventive services, lifestyle changes, and follow-up care based on your individual health needs.

Cancer Screenings

Appropriate cancer screening can help detect certain cancers at earlier stages, sometimes before symptoms develop.

Depending on age, sex, medical history, family history, and individual risk factors, your physician may discuss recommended screening for conditions such as colorectal, breast, cervical, lung, and prostate cancer.

Cardiovascular Risk Assessment

A cardiovascular risk assessment evaluates factors that may increase your likelihood of developing heart disease or stroke.

Assessment may include blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes status, smoking history, weight, physical activity, family history, and other individual risk factors. Your physician can then recommend strategies to reduce your cardiovascular risk.

Smoking Cessation Counseling

Stopping smoking is one of the most important steps a person can take to improve long-term health.

Our practice provides smoking cessation counseling and can discuss behavioral strategies and medications when medically appropriate to help patients successfully quit tobacco use.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations are an important part of preventive healthcare throughout adulthood. Recommended vaccines vary based on age, medical conditions, vaccination history, occupation, travel, and other individual risk factors.

Our office can review your immunization history and recommend appropriate adult vaccinations, including seasonal influenza vaccination and other age- or risk-appropriate immunizations.

Women’s Adult Health & Menopause Management

Our Internal Medicine practice provides comprehensive women’s adult healthcare, including preventive care and evaluation of health concerns that may develop during perimenopause, menopause, and later adulthood.

Care may include discussion and management of menopausal symptoms, cardiovascular and metabolic health, bone health, weight changes, sleep concerns, and recommended preventive screenings.

Treatment recommendations are individualized based on symptoms, medical history, risk factors, and personal preferences. When gynecologic or other specialized care is needed, appropriate referrals can be coordinated.
