Arthritis & Joint Health

Joint pain, stiffness, and inflammation can interfere with mobility and everyday activities. Our practice evaluates and manages common forms of arthritis and other joint-related concerns.

Gout

Gout is a form of inflammatory arthritis caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals in a joint. It commonly causes sudden episodes of severe pain, redness, warmth, and swelling, often involving the big toe, ankle, or knee.

Treatment may include medications to control an acute attack as well as lifestyle changes and medications to lower uric acid and help prevent future episodes when appropriate.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a common form of arthritis that develops as cartilage and other structures within a joint change over time. It frequently affects the knees, hips, hands, and spine.

Symptoms may include joint pain, stiffness, swelling, decreased range of motion, and difficulty with everyday activities. Treatment is individualized and may include exercise, weight management, medications, physical therapy, and specialist referral when appropriate.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the joints and can affect other parts of the body. Symptoms commonly include joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and prolonged morning stiffness.

Early recognition and treatment are important because uncontrolled inflammation can lead to permanent joint damage. Patients with suspected or established rheumatoid arthritis may be referred to a rheumatologist for specialized treatment while our office assists with ongoing medical care and monitoring.
