Endocrine & Metabolic Disorders
Hormones regulate many essential functions, including metabolism, energy, temperature, weight, and cardiovascular health. Our practice evaluates and manages common thyroid, endocrine, and metabolic disorders.
Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid, occurs when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone.
Symptoms may include fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, dry skin, constipation, and changes in concentration or mood. Diagnosis typically involves blood testing, and treatment commonly includes thyroid hormone replacement with ongoing laboratory monitoring.
Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid, occurs when the thyroid produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormone.
Symptoms can include rapid heartbeat, palpitations, weight loss, tremor, anxiety, heat intolerance, increased sweating, and difficulty sleeping. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may involve medication and consultation with an endocrinologist.
Other Hormonal & Endocrine Conditions
Our practice can provide initial evaluation and ongoing management for a variety of hormonal, endocrine, and metabolic concerns. Evaluation may include a detailed medical history, physical examination, and appropriate laboratory testing.
When specialized testing or treatment is required, we coordinate care with an endocrinologist or other appropriate specialist.
